AURORA BOREALIS

An aurora, sometimes referred to as polar lights, northern lights, or southern lights, is a natural light display in the Earth's sky, predominantly seen in the high-latitude regions. Auroras are the result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind.

In March 2013, I fulfilled one of my bucket-list adventures. I travelled to Alaska during the northern winter and witnessed an amazing phenomenon. At minus 30 degrees Celsius, the sky put on a magnificent display. We stayed in Wiseman, which is a hunting village during summer, and Wiseman is 100 kilometres above the Arctic Circle in the Brookes Ranges.
